Montvale, NJ, March 29, 2017

Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation is proud to announce the launch of the SHARP Open Architecture Platform at Digital Signage Expo (DSE) 2017 in Las Vegas. The new platform provides an easy way for customers to download, store and play content directly from next-generation Sharp displays that incorporate this technology. It combines new Sharp hardware and software with technology from its alliances with independent signage software providers.

The SHARP Open Architecture Platform runs on the Android™ operating system enabling an open platform for the independent software community. Sharp has already collaborated with ten software companies for its new System-on-Chip (SOC) platform: Capital Networks, CityMeo, Easyscreen, Grassfish, Industry Weapon, Navori, Omnivex, Revel, Starmont and Videro.

“We are proud to announce the upcoming SHARP Open Architecture Platform here at DSE, the world’s largest trade show exclusively targeted to digital signage,” said Gary Bailer, Director of Product Planning and Marketing for Pro AV Products at Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. “We’re eager to discuss the new platform’s capabilities and have a dialog with additional digital signage software providers who would like to join the program.“

With plans to incorporate the platform into a wide range of display sizes, the SHARP Open Architecture Platform runs on a powerful SoC quad core processor that is capable of supporting 4K video play back. The embedded platform is also expected to come preloaded with a new version of SHARP Digital Signage Software and will also support a built-in USB Media Player and SHARP Content Distributor software. Additionally, the upcoming product lineup will support a Mini OPS (Open Pluggable Specification) expansion slot, providing customers with a future-proof platform that can grow and expand as their needs change over time.

The SHARP Open Architecture Platform is being announced as part of its #teamupwithsharp theme at Booth #1207 at DSE, where it will also showcase various new digital signage products including its PN-R and PN-Y series, new AQUOS BOARD® interactive displays, and video wall comprised of its future 70" ultra-thin bevel displays.

Sharp will announce products incorporating the SHARP Open Architecture Platform later this year and is targeting to deploy them in the market beginning in the Fall of 2017. Additional Sharp news and updates during DSE and after the event will be available via @Sharp_Business on Twitter.

3/27/2017 SHARP TO DEMONSTRATE EXPANDED PROFESSIONAL DISPLAY PRODUCT LINE AT DIGITAL SIGNAGE EXPO 2017 more →

3/27/2017 7:00:00 PM

Montvale, NJ, March 28, 2017

Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation announced today that the Digital Signage Awards (The DOOHDAS) has recognized Sharp for “Overall Achievement” in Manufacturing.

The Digital Signage Awards receives thousands of international entries and selects an elite group of winners through an impartial, independent and objective process. Its goal is to identify the world’s most outstanding digital screen media projects, creativity, content and technology. Expert judges chosen for their experience in the industry vote independently for the Digital Signage Awards’ entries they believe best fit each category.

Each year, the Overall Achievement in Manufacturing award goes to an organization that displays innovation, brilliant content and technical excellence. Sharp received the honor within the Overall Achievement category because of its outstanding work for Idaho State University-Meridian. Without a formal gross anatomy laboratory, ISU-Meridian students relied on video conferencing for the interactive portion of their studies. To address this, the university constructed a new laboratory facility with more than 40 Sharp display systems and advanced health science studies across campus, establishing a hands-on, interactive learning environment. ISU-Meridian, with the help of Sharp technologies, has completely changed the learning experience for its students, and now provides one of the best health sciences learning environments in the country.

“It’s an honor to be a part of this exclusive group recognized by the Digital Signage Awards and to be acknowledged for the work we did with Idaho State University-Meridian,” said Gary Bailer, director of product management, Information Display Products. Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. “The award reflects our commitment to creating the best environments in which to work and learn and to develop the innovative products that make that possible.”

3/26/2017 SHARP TO DEMONSTRATE EXPANDED PROFESSIONAL DISPLAY PRODUCT LINE AT DIGITAL SIGNAGE EXPO 2017 more →

3/26/2017 7:00:00 PM

Montvale, NJ, March 27, 2017

Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC), is proud to participate in the 2017 Digital Signage Expo (DSE) in Las Vegas, March 29-30, 2017. At booth #1207, Sharp will showcase its newly released professional AV models and highlight a number of new models that will be launching in the coming months to the theme #teamupwithsharp.

“With more than 20 new models launching in 2017, teaming up with Sharp is an easy decision,” said Gary Bailer, Director of Product Management, Information Display Products, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. “Now is the time to take advantage of our new technology and solutions that will be critical in a rapidly changing digital signage environment.”

Starting lineup: mounting versatility and open platform

Sharp’s lineup includes the new, slim, narrow-bezel-width PN-R professional displays, which can be installed face up, face down, tilted forward or backward, and which won “Best of Show” when previewed at InfoComm 2016. The displays were the first to offer the new Intel® Mini Open Pluggable Specification (Mini OPS) technology, supporting HDBaseT™, wireless and computing modules. Additionally, a preview of the 70 and 60-inch Class PN-R series will be available. These are the largest in the series and will be launching beginning the spring of 2017. Sharp will also show the new PN-Y series, which has many of the same features as the PN-R models, but is featured at a more economical price point.

Everyone loves an expansion team

Sharp has recently expanded its award-winning AQUOS BOARD® interactive display line with two additional models - the 80" Class (80" diagonal) PN-C805B and 70" Class (69.5" diagonal) PN-C705B. These are the first in the series to boast direct bonding technology, along with Sharp Pen-on-Paper™ technology, which makes the touchscreen feel and respond virtually as naturally as a pen writing on paper. Sharp will also demonstrate its new 40" Class (39.5" diagonal) PN-L401C AQUOS BOARD interactive display that incorporates capacitive touch technology. The PN-L401C is the first in Sharp’s smaller-format interactive line, and is ideal for both interactive signage and collaborative environments. It is also the first AQUOS BOARD display model to incorporate Intel Mini OPS technology, and can be configured in either landscape, portrait or face-up orientation.

Big league size for minor league budgets

Sharp’s newly launched 90" Class (90 1/64" diagonal) PN-LE901 commercial LCD display combines full-HD image quality and a stylish, thin profile with a built-in tuner for the ultimate viewing experience. Business owners can easily manage the functionality of the PN-LE901 commercial LCD display due to its many user-friendly features. This includes a powerful RS-232C command set, which permits flexible remote control capabilities from connected devices.

Impressive video wall to show all the action

Also at DSE 2017, Sharp will display a preview of the world’s largest 70" Class ultra-thin-bezel video wall monitor, scheduled for launch this fall. When displayed in a 1x3 array, it yields a 119" diagonal show of brilliance without inducing the dreaded bezel crosshair.

Visitors to booth #1207 will also see first-hand the benefits of the Strategic Alliance Resource (STAR) program, an exclusive program for third-party products and services that complement Sharp’s professional AV products. Additionally, visitors can find information on the Sharp Pro AV Reseller Program , which helps Sharp professional display dealers, integrators and consultants increase their sales opportunities by allowing them to purchase from any Sharp authorized dealer.

Businesses can easily manage the functionality of the PN-LE901 commercial LCD display due to its many user-friendly features. This includes a powerful RS-232C command set, which permits flexible command and control capabilities from connected devices, three HDMI™ inputs to connect multiple HD sources including digital signage media player and cable boxes, and powerful, built-in 20W speakers for superb sound to complement the breathtaking images

Additionally, the PN-LE901 commercial LCD display has cutting-edge picture technology that delivers amazing detail, gorgeous color depth and consistent image quality. The panel’s advanced pixel structure enables stunning 4 million: 1 dynamic contrast for deeper blacks and whiter whites. Its USB port allows for displaying images and videos seamlessly, and business owners will also benefit from optimal content control with added lockout features including IR Remote, Power, Channel, Volume, Input, OSD disable and LED disable. It also includes a unique, low-power Wallpaper Mode that displays virtually any image on the screen at a reduced light level, mirroring museum conditions so the screen blends beautifully into an installed environment.

“It’s not just a big screen, it’s a larger-than-life customer engaging machine,” said Gary Bailer, Director of Product Planning and Marketing for Pro AV Products at Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. “A variety of professional display features, a three-year limited commercial warranty, plus amazing picture technology combine to make this technology ideal for sports bars, waiting rooms and other business locations that need to grab the attention of viewers for a new level of engagement.”

Montvale, NJ, January 19, 2017

Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC) announces that Sharp Cloud Portal Office (CPO) has received a prestigious “Pick” award for “Outstanding Content and Collaboration Service” from Buyers Laboratory LLC (BLI), a world-wide leading independent evaluator of document imaging products and solutions.

BLI Pick awards give special recognition to software products that provide the most outstanding performances in BLI’s unique evaluations. The award is given to software products submitted for testing that rise above the competition in key areas such as feature set, ease of use and ease of administration, software integration and value.

CPO is a turnkey content management service that provides a convenient way to capture, index and archive both paper and electronic documents in a single repository. Through CPO, IT administrators can manage and control user access in order to safeguard company data. CPO also allows for a secure connection to business content and with flexible sharing features users can easily collaborate with team members, whether remotely or during in-person conferences.

CPO received top marks from BLI for the platform’s many strengths, including its small to medium-size business focused content management features, such as customized indexing, exceptions processing and a user-friendly viewer. The platform also received accolades for its easy-to-use collaboration features accessible through intuitive user interfaces such as the PC, smartphone or tablet, Sharp multifunctional printer (MFP), or Sharp AQUOS BOARD® interactive display system. Finally, granular folder and subfolder sharing permissions and admin controls help ensure content integrity and security.

“Employees are becoming less constrained by their physical location, and content platforms like Cloud Portal Office allow staff to be productive even if all users are in different locations,” said Jamie Bsales, director, Office Workflow Solutions Analysis. “Setting permissions on who gets to access certain content is easy, so users will never have to worry about their work being affected by the wrong hands. And the use of exception handling, version control and audit logs ensures content fidelity in this valuable service.”

“Sharp is extremely honored to receive a coveted Pick award form BLI,” said Vince Jannelli, Associate Vice President of Software Product Management, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. “We designed Cloud Portal Office for small to medium-size businesses looking for cloud-based content management and collaboration, and it is gratifying to be recognized for our commitment to this goal.”
